I believe in making technology more humane through thoughtful craft and creativity. From my experience, this happens best when everyone in the group iterates together, all collaborating towards a common goal. I don’t think of “User Experience” as one person’s role — I think it's the responsibility of every single person on the team. My contribution to this way of working and thinking is through information architecture, interaction design, and other early-stage visuals.
My focus on IA and IxD during the past decade grew out of my experience in visual design, programming and other related creative pursuits including music and audio.
Justin has worked with me on various projects and in different capacities for over a decade, from being an audio designer for feature films to design and implementation consultant for the company’s web presence. His contribution to my company’s success with the projects he was involved in is hard to over-estimate.
My arts related company is small and I don’t maintain regular employees and consultants, but if I could, I would seize upon a collaborator like Kawashima: a savvy technologist, a clear communicator, and a sophisticated craftsman who has a firm grasp of the essential storytelling that underlies music, filmmaking, visual design and interactive experiences.
I recommend him highly.

Justin is more than a highly creative designer, his ability to think strategically and understand the client/consumer needs makes him stand apart from other designers in the industry. His skills in translating traditional media into an interactive platform gives the project a full 360 degree end user experience.

Justin’s high level of problem solving shows in every detail of the projects that he works on. He is engaged, passionate and focused in a way that brings instant camaraderie to anyone who gets the opportunity to work with him.
His solutions are effective and eloquent. He is an asset to any work environment both for the content of his character as well as his genuine talent.
